Flavors of the French Quarter
A Walking Tour and Creole Cooking Class
Sunday, April 5, 2009
9:30 AM – 1:30PM
Join us on this short walking tour of the French Quarter as we make our way from the hotel to the New Orleans School of Cooking where you’ll meet a vivacious chef who will lead you through the secret steps in creating our world-famous Creole and Cajun cuisine. Fun is the key ingredient as the chef shares the basics of Louisiana cooking, seasoned with history, trivia, and Louisiana lore. We’ll observe the preparation of classic dishes such as gumbo, jambalaya, bananas foster, and pralines. And, of course, copies of the step-by-step recipes are handed out for all to take home so you can serve up some authentic New Orleans cuisine in your own kitchen for friends and family. A hearty tasting of all the wonderful dishes created during the class is served, so be sure to bring your appetite! And we’ll wash it all down with plenty of ice cold Abita Beer, iced tea, and freshly brewed New Orleans coffee and chicory. Our knowledgeable tour guide will share points of interest and historic tidbits before and after our cooking class. Truly a great way to taste all the flavors that are the French Quarter!
