Frequently Asked Questions
Who can attend the conference?
The SIOP conference is open to all. Varying registration rates apply for SIOP Student Affiliate members, SIOP professional members, and non-members of SIOP. If you are interested in becoming a member, please visit http://www.siop.org/joinsiop.aspx for the requirements and application information.
How can I obtain a letter of invitation (for international attendees seeking travel visas)?
Contact firstname.lastname@example.org with your name, address and instructions about how to address the invitation letter.
What is included in the cost of registration? Are meals included?
With your paid registration you can choose from hundreds of educational sessions to attend Thursday, Friday and Saturday, April 8-10. The only sessions requiring an additional registration and fee are the Friday Seminars. You are welcome at all SIOP receptions, but there are some private and corporate receptions scheduled during the conference as well which are by invitation only. You have access to the exhibit hall and Cyber Café and will be provided with refreshments at a morning and afternoon coffee break each day. There is no lunch or dinner provided and no “lunch break” in the program (sessions continue throughout the lunch time hour).
I cannot register online. Is there another option?
You may print a paper form here and mail or fax to the Administrative Office.
I am registered for the conference but can no longer attend (for any reason), so how do I obtain my full refund?
The cancellation policies and deadlines, by which we strictly abide, are available at http://www.siop.org/Conferences/10Con/Regbk/refundpolicy.aspx. We understand that situations occur and plans change but because we project attendance based on daily registration data and we have financial commitments to meet with the conference hotel, we cannot provide full refunds (only partial are available). As of March 26, 2010, we provide no refunds on conference registration.
When will I receive my printed program?
Attendees registered by the early deadline (February 15) will receive their printed program in the mail by the end of February or early March (allow extra time for international deliveries). Individuals registering after the early deadline can pick up a program on-site at the conference. If you receive a program in the mail, please remember to bring it with you to the event, as only limited quantities are available.
Can I present my research at the 2010 SIOP Annual Conference? Do you need any keynote speakers?
The SIOP Annual Conference features a handful of special, invited speakers and sessions along with 3 days worth of peer-reviewed programming. The program has already been finalized. Those interested in being on the program for 2011 can view the 2010 Call for Proposals at http://www.siop.org/conferences/10con/cfp/CFPTOC.aspx to gain insight on the submission process. The 2011 Call for Proposals will be issued in July 2010.
Who do we contact to obtain approval for the reception our organization would like to host at the Hilton Atlanta during the SIOP conference?
Send your request to Dave Nershi, SIOP Executive Director, for approval at email@example.com.
Where can I acquire the conference proceedings?
SIOP does not keep full-text copies of research presented at our conferences. For abstracts and submitter information, please use the searchable program found here. You can contact the submitters directly for copies of their work. Additionally, audio and video from the conference will be posted after the event at our Learning Center at http://www.siop.org/learningcenter.aspx. SIOP conference attendees will receive a discount on a Learning Center subscription.
