What You Need to Know

We are pleased to present the 2013 SIOP Workshops! We have a great roster of workshops and anticipate that the workshops will fill up quickly, so register NOW to get the workshop of your choice! We operate on a first-come, first-served basis. On-site workshop registration is available for any workshop that has open space. For workshops that are full, on-site registration is ONLY available if a preregistered attendee fails to show up.
Something NEW for 2013! For the first time, we are offering an opportunity to register for one workshop (either morning or afternoon) at a reduced cost of $300 for members and $485 for non-members. Because workshop attendees find the networking opportunities available during workshops to be one of the most valuable aspects of attending, the registration fee includes lunch as well as the reception. For those of you who find it difficult to attend a full day of workshops, this option should give you more flexibility to attend, learn, and network!
The workshops are sponsored by the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, Inc. (SIOP) and presented as part of the 28th Annual Conference. SIOP is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. SIOP maintains responsibility for this program and its content. Select workshops are also available for general credit toward PHR, SPHR, and GPHR recertification through the HR Certification Institute. All information pertaining to this continuing education course can be found here. Three and a half (3.5) continuing education credits are awarded for participation in each workshop.
Updated Target Audience Guidelines
Another improvement in 2013 is to provide a common framework for defining who the intended audience is for each workshop and the level of understanding and skills related to the workshop content that will be assumed by the presenters. Not only will this allow attendees to make more informed decisions about which workshops to attend, presenters will be able to make more efficient use of their time by focusing the content on the expected skills and knowledge of the intended audience. For example, in an “advanced” session, presenters will not discuss basic concepts in depth, so attendees who are new to that area may want to choose a different workshop or brush up on the basics before attending.
In the detailed descriptions provided for each workshop, we have indicated if the workshop is ‘advanced,’ ‘intermediate,’ or ‘introductory’ based on the definitions below.
- Advanced: Solid understanding of the more complex concepts covered in this workshop. Understanding of basic concepts is assumed and will not be covered in the workshop. Intended for someone with in depth experience in this content area.
- Intermediate: Solid understanding of the basic concepts covered in this workshop is assumed and may not be discussed or only discussed briefly in this workshop. Intended for someone with some experience in this content area.
- Introductory: Little knowledge of the basic concepts covered in this workshop. Intended for someone new to the area with little to no background experience in the content area.
Date and Schedule
The workshops take place on Wednesday, April 10, 2013, the day before the regular program of the SIOP conference begins. The schedule is as follows:

||11:30 a.m. - 1:15 p.m.
||12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.
||1:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

How to Register
To register, please use our online registration system. Registration for workshops is on a first-come, first-served basis. All workshops are half-day sessions and will be presented twice, once in the morning and once in the afternoon. You may register for one or two half-day sessions.
- Full Day (Two) Workshops
- SIOP Members and Affiliates: $400
- Nonmembers of SIOP: $650
Fees include all registration materials for two workshop sessions, morning coffee, lunch, afternoon snack, and reception. Additional guest tickets for the receptions may be purchased at the door for $50.
- Half Day (One) Workshop
- SIOP Members and Affiliates: $300
- Nonmembers of SIOP: $485
Fees include all registration materials for one workshop, lunch, and reception. Additional guest tickets for the receptions may be purchased at the door for $50.
If Your Organization Is Paying the Check…
Please mail your conference registration form to the SIOP Administrative Office, even if your organization is sending a check separately. (Sometimes, they don’t send the form.) On the form, indicate that your organization is paying, and the check will be mailed separately. Make sure your name is on the check and/or your organization’s remittance material. (Sometimes organizations don’t indicate for whom they are paying.) Keep in mind that your conference registration will not be finalized until payment is received.
Cancellation Policy for Workshops
If you must cancel your workshops registration, notify the SIOP Administrative office in writing at 440 E. Poe Rd., Suite 101, Bowling Green, OH 43402 or by e-mail to email@example.com. The phone number is (419) 353-0032, and the fax number is (419) 352-2645. Workshop fees (less a $85.00 administrative charge) will be refunded through March 14, 2013. A 50% refund will be granted between March 15, 2013 and March 28, 2013. No refunds will be granted after March 28, 2013. All refunds will be made based on the date when the written request is received at the Administrative Office.
