INDUSTRIAL-ORGANIZATIONAL (I-O) PSYCHOLOGY
The University of West Florida School of Psychological and Behavioral Sciences (SPBS) invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 2013. The position includes professional duties within the School and in the areas of industrial-organizational (I-O) psychology with the capability to teach a range of undergraduate and graduate courses, and conduct research in areas of one’s own interest. Specifically, we are seeking an individual who brings energy and enthusiasm to the following duties: 1) teaching and supervising undergraduate and graduate (MA) students, 2) establishing an active program of applied research that emphasizes student involvement, 3) supervising internships and theses, and 4) participating in professional and community service activities. Area of specialty within Industrial Organizational Psychology is open. Applicant will be expected to teach research methods at the undergraduate and graduate levels, so expertise in research methods is preferred. A doctorate in Psychology from a regionally accredited university is required. Successful candidates will also demonstrate potential for success in teaching research methods and I-O related courses, developing a research agenda which includes publishing in scholarly journals, pursuing extramural funding, and the ability to supervise, mentor, and involve students in research.
The SPBS occupies a modern facility with excellent research space and provides opportunities for conducting a variety of diverse and specialized research. The university is located on a 1600-acre campus that is designated as a nature preserve, and has a student population of approximately 12,000, representing 49 states, 79 counties, and 24% ethnic minorities. As Pensacola is a regional center for health care and has a large military presence, opportunities exist to work with local agencies. The SPBS also is the home for two research centers: the Center on Aging, and the Center for Applied Psychology.
