About the Job

Reporting to the VP, Talent Management & Diversity, this role works with the heads of Restaurant Operations, the VP of HR for Field Capability, and other key Field, Corporate, and HR colleagues to lead the design and development of training solutions to support restaurant operations, management, corporate functions and multi-unit operators.  This position leads a team of 5 to design, develop and implement learning solutions such as E-Learning courses, instructor-led training materials, blended learning solutions, visual training aids, video, webinars, and virtual classrooms.  This leader also defines and oversees instruction design methodologies, learning systems and innovations.


Specific Responsibilities Include

  • Leading the design and development of training solutions across the Wendy's system
  • Leading the Training Design & Systems team consisting of instructional designers, learning architects and E-Learning systems developers to support restaurant operations and field management training, as well as expanding to support all functional employees
  • Partnering with VP of HR & Field Capability and VP of Talent Management & Diversity to support broader Talent Management initiatives as well as Wendy’s Institute initiatives, deliverables and applied communication
  • Managing learning systems (e.g. WeLearn, Ops Library architecture) and leading learning innovation (e.g. Learning lab, allowing employees to get college credit for operations training)
  • Managing external vendors to support the design, development and implementation of training solutions
  • Serving as a key member of the Talent Management & Diversity leadership team, focusing on building innovative, practical talent solutions at Wendy's
  • Functioning as an enterprise-wide thought leader as we work to evolve our learning solutions in both company operated, corporate and franchisee environments.

This position will be based at The Wendy's Company newly renovated headquarters in Dublin, a suburb of Columbus, OH.

Job Requirements


Education / Experience

  • Master’s Degree, MBA, or other graduate degree
  • Expertise in the design, development and implementation of varied learning and/or management development solutions
  • 5-7 years of progressive HR experience, including experience managing field and/or virtual teams
  • Strong business acumen and ability to partner effectively with leaders of all levels
  • Client and solutions-oriented mind-set
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and lead change within an organization
  • Superior presentation, organizational and project management skills
  • Experience supporting enterprise-wide learning management systems, e-learning development tools, and/or or virtual classrooms preferred
