About the Organization

The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) is the national association for regulatory agencies for nursing. NCSBN assists and supports boards of nursing to act together on matters of common interest and concern affecting public health, safety, and regulation. This includes the development of national nurse licensing examinations. Currently we are seeking a Test Development Associate for our Examinations Department.

About the Job

Position provides professional support in the design of examination development and evaluation methods.  Recruits volunteers for item development panels.  Supports the examination committees through assisting in the production of reports on content issues.  Updates internal documents and guidelines used for item development.  Assist in the development of material for public speaking and outreach through internal and external publications.  Provides proofreading, editing, and data integrity support for various department reports, documents, and publications.  Develops and maintains department documents, filing structures, databases, and spreadsheets on a consistent basis and performs support functions (copying, filing, faxing, and data entry) as necessary.  Provides support to special assignments related to item development.  Coordinates examination program code project.  Maintains/updates database with program code requests.  Coordinates the operational aspect of program reports.  Responds to inquiries regarding program reports.  Maintains content calendar of events, including maintenance of the Wiki, provide updates to be included on the intranet and the Examination Wiki.  Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred with five to seven years of licensure / certification test development experience combined with professional writing and editing experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience is required.  Strong presentation, organizational, problem-solving, communication and customer service expertise with great attention to details and deadlines required.  Flexibility, team player mentality and ability to manage multiple priorities are essential.  Technical expertise must include MS Office.
