by SIOP Administrative Office

Distinguished Awards Deadline July 15

SIOP’s Distinguished Awards honor a select few individuals who continuously strive for excellence and who have made outstanding contributions to the field of industrial-organizational psychology. Do you or one of your colleagues deserve this recognition?

Each year, SIOP presents six distinguished awards at the opening plenary of the annual conference:

The deadline for SIOP’s Distinguished Awards—as well as all of the SIOP and SIOP Foundation awards, scholarships, research grants, and the Joyce and Thayer fellowship—has been extended through July 15, 2016.

Nominations may be submitted by any member of SIOP and self-nominations are welcome. Start your nomination on the SIOP awards page today, or continue reading to learn more about some of this year’s winners.

2016 Distinguished Scientic Contributions Award recipient Eduardo Salas (Rice University)

Dr. Salas is an extremely productive researcher and one of the most influential voices in several applicable domains of teamwork and training. He stands alone in his contributions to how teams adapt, how team members learn and how best to train teams. He has been the “go-to” scientist in identifying characteristics of successful teams and translating that research into applied team training programs.

2016 Distinguished Professional Contributions Award recipient Leaetta Hough (Dunnette Group)

Dr. Hough recently was an expert witness on the winning side of an employment discrimination case in which the judge concluded: “This is a profoundly important case, one that evokes the finest of our nation’s aspirations to give everyone equal opportunity and a fair shot.” Her participation in this case captures the essence of Dr. Hough’s stellar career – challenging the science and practice of I-O psychology to address and resolve real-world problems.
