SIOP Welcomes New Staff

7/20/2016-

by SIOP Administrative Office

The SIOP Administrative Office works continuously to provide quality and timely service to the Society’s ever-expanding membership. Recently SIOP has been fortunate to welcome two outstanding new staff members to help in this mission!

Barbara Ruland is the newest addition to SIOP’s busy Communications Department. Barbara works as the Communications Specialist and brings with her a great deal of expertise in video, social media, and writing. She had been taking over some of Communications Manager Stephany Below’s job duties while she was on maternity leave in the spring, but Barbara recently accepted a permanent position in the office. Scott Case recently came to SIOP as the office’s IT Business Systems Analyst. His job replaces the previous developer position at the office. He joins Larry Nader in the IT department and will work closely with the rest of the staff on various IT and my.SIOP-related projects.

Below are short bios for Scott and Barbara. Read more about all of SIOP’s talented staff on our “Contact” page here!

Scott Case, IT Business Systems Analyst
Scott is the IT Business Systems Analyst. His responsibilities include configuration, use and troubleshooting of the NOAH association management software system. He also works closely with project owners to understand document business process and project requirements and offer solution options. He also provides support to assist users with installs, updates, and training on current/new application systems. This also includes the creation of documentation for all SIOP members. Prior to SIOP he spent over 20 years in higher education.

Barbara Ruland, Communications Specialist
Barbara works in the Communications Department, with duties including social media management and monitoring, media relations, website content creation, and video and graphic production. A native of New Mexico, Barbara has a BS, with honors, in Radio and Television from San Diego State University. She worked in television broadcasting and corporate video in San Diego, winning awards for her writing, producing and editing work, before moving to Bowling Green, Ohio with her husband Jeff Betts. Barbara joined SIOP in 2016 after 8 years working with the downtown merchants and property owners. While at Downtown BG, she helped create a supporting charity and wrote several grants in support of civic improvement initiatives. A word geek, Barbara loves to read. She also likes to garden, cook, and explore new places.
