For the third year running, the SIOP Professional Practice Committee will be holding a Speed Mentoring Event for practitioners at the SIOP Annual Conference. This year’s conference will take place April 26-28 in San Diego. The speed mentoring session will be held Thursday, April 26, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in Cunningham ABC at the Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego.
At this event, practitioners will have the opportunity to participate in two separate 25-minute roundtable discussions with one or two seasoned professionals on predetermined topics of interest. This event is a terrific opportunity for practitioners to seek guidance, knowledge, and wisdom from mentors who have "been there and done that." Participants in the Speed Mentoring Event will also be provided the opportunity to participate in a Virtual Mentoring pilot program following the annual conference. This program provides both "mentors" and “protégés” access to an online discussion forum allowing them to continue discussions started at the conference. Participants will be able to submit different discussion "threads" that present their questions, outline an idea, provide answers or comments to questions, and so on. Finally, in the coming months a Group Mentoring pilot will be initiated. This program pairs seasoned "mentors" with interested "protégés" for a series of regular, ongoing meetings that can be conducted virtually (e.g., phone, video conference, etc.) on topics of interest.
Stay tuned for further updates and information regarding each of these programs, including direction on how and when to sign up to participate.
