Environmental Sustainability at Work

6/13/2012-

by SIOP

Registration Now Open for 2012 Leading Edge Consortium!

Organizations are increasingly concluding that environmental sustainability is central to their missions. As organizations transform to minimize, mitigate, and neutralize their environmental impact, I-O psychology is uniquely positioned to aid in these efforts.

Environmental Sustainability at Work: Advancing Research, Enhancing Practice,” SIOP’s 8th annual Leading Edge Consortium, will bring together thought leaders from academia and practice in a day-and-a-half event focusing on the exciting topic of environmental sustainability. Registration is now open for this event, which will take place October 19-20, 2012 at the Hotel Monteleone in New Orleans, Louisiana.

This meeting will bring together an interdisciplinary team of experts and keynote speakers from industry, psychological research, the environmental sciences, and consulting. Sessions will address interdisciplinary aspects and how I-O science and practice can contribute, the business case for environmental sustainability, and how sustainability can become a competitive advantage, as well as specific issues relevant to I-O practitioners. Organizations at the cutting edge of environmental sustainability practices will report on their experiences with interventions to make their operations more sustainable through human resources. Make plans to join us for this important and innovative event!

Register for “Environmental Sustainability at Work” today!

SIOP’s Leading Edge Consortium is unique in its approach by bringing together leading-edge thinkers— practitioners, researchers, and HR executives—to examine issues in an intimate setting that fosters stimulating dialogue among colleagues. Each presentation takes place in general session, a setting conducive to interaction with presenters and networking with leaders in the I-O field.

This year’s LEC will be led by General Chair Sara P. Weiner (Kenexa), Science Co-Chair Stephan Dilchert (Baruch College), Science Co-Chair Deniz S. Ones (University of Minnesota), Practice Chair Mark J. Schmit (SHRM). The chairs have worked hard to line up an impressive group of speakers. The current list of speakers and moderators includes:

Edward Lawler, Director of the Center for Effective Organizations, University of Southern California
John Elstrott, Chairman of the Board, Whole Foods
Karen Paul, Head of Global HR Measurement, 3M
Mark Schmit, VP of Research, Society for Human Resource Management
