About the Job

Location: Dunwoody, Georgia OR Champaign, Illinois

State Farm Insurance is seeking a Research Statistician to join a team of advanced analytics professionals.

In this role, the statistician will be developing, interpreting and implementing financial services statistical models as well as creating analytical solutions using latest statistical and data science techniques for business problems focusing on our credit card business. They will collaborate and work closely with team members in both Atlanta and the Corporate headquarters in Bloomington, IL. The statistician will have opportunities to present and explain the models to fellow associates and to clients. Ongoing professional development is encouraged and supported through a variety of assignments, pertinent conferences and advanced training.

Job Requirements

Seeking candidates with an M.S. or above in quantitative discipline with experience in Data Mining, Mathematical Statistics, & Statistical Modeling. Previous modeling experience leveraging credit/debit card transaction data is preferred and experience in creating and applying statistical modeling and analysis in one or more of the following subject areas preferred:

  • Decisioning models for all life cycle stage of credit card lending, deposits and collections
  • Design of Experiments
  • Optimization
  • Text Mining
  • Model Independent Review
  • Consumer Propensity to Buy and Best Messaging
  • Knowledge and experience using statistical software in a mainframe and/or client-server environment (SAS preferred)
  • Experience engaging in quantitative analysis on many non-standard and unique business problems using computer-intensive data mining and machine learning techniques (decision trees, neural networks, etc.) desired
  • Experience using FCRA-governed consumer data sources (credit reports, CLUE, etc.) highly desired
