About the Job

We seek candidates who apply computational science methods to behavioral science problems (e.g., big data acquisition, data visualization, prediction analytics and use of prediction analytics to facilitate theory-testing, meditational analyses, Bayesian methods, longitudinal and multi-level analysis, social network analysis, applied psychometrics).  We are particularly interested in candidates who use data analytics to inform decision-making processes as applied to industrial-organizational challenges (e.g., maximizing human capital) with broad societal implications (e.g., improving healthcare). Collaborative opportunities exist both within the department and across the broader university, including Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine, the Virginia Tech Carilion Research Institute, and the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute.


Job Requirements

Ph.D. completed by August 2018. Candidates are expected to have a strong publication record and promise for, or an established record of, external funding.

The Department of Psychology, within the COLLEGE OF SCIENCE, at VIRGINIA TECH invites applications for an Open Rank, tenure-track faculty position in Industrial-Organizational Psychology, to begin August, 2018. The current hiring strategy at Virginia Tech is guided by a vision of five multidisciplinary destination clusters. The I-O psychology position is aligned with the “Data and Decision Sciences” (http://provost.vt.edu/destination-areas/da-data.html) cluster.  The cluster hiring goal is to hire six new faculty across multiple departments.
