Dr. Joanna Starek is a consultant with the Denver office of RHR International where she helps firms align their leadership and culture with strategic business objectives. Prior to joining RHR, Dr. Starek was a faculty member at the University of Colorado-Boulder and worked as a performance enhancement consultant with various elite athletes and teams. She has applied her knowledge of high performing athletes to the corporate sector. Her clients range from Fortune 100 companies to privately held corporations and professional service organizations. Dr. Starek received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Colgate University. She earned her Master’s degree from the University of Colorado-Boulder, and her PhD in Counseling Psychology from Colorado State University. Her publications include “Self-deception and its Relationship to Success in Competition,” “Implementing an Effective Mental Training Plan,” and “The Psychology of Burnout.” She serves as Chair of the Business of Practice Network for the Colorado Psychological Association. Currently, she is working on projects designed to create more innovate leaders. When not at work, she spends her time coaching master’s swimming, mountain biking, hiking, and playing Ultimate Frisbee.
