Robert A. Schmieder
Rob Schmieder is a senior director of organizational development at Microsoft, supporting the Office Division. In this role, Rob drives cross-division and cross-Microsoft organizational effectiveness and leadership development interventions. Previously, he was the senior director of talent management in Microsoft’s center of excellence. He and his team determined enterprise-wide talent strategies, built critical talent frameworks, drove succession planning, and led efforts to ensure a ready bench of senior leaders. Rob also was the director of people and organizational capability (POC) in the enterprise software and services business, where he was responsible for driving the talent management, leadership development, and organizational effectiveness efforts. Prior to Microsoft, Rob owned his own firm, was a regional director for Personnel Decisions International (PDI), and was a member of an internal research group at IBM. Through his 20 years as an internal and external practitioner, he has gained extensive experience in organization development, talent management, leadership assessment, coaching, training, and partnering with executive teams in multiple industries. Rob completed his doctorate in Industrial and Organizational Psychology at Bowling Green State University.
