What benefits does a SIOP membership provide? Do benefits vary based on
membership status?
Please visit
http://www.siop.org/tab_default/joinsiop_default.aspx for complete
benefit information.
How do I know if I am eligible for SIOP membership? Should I apply for Member
or Associate, etc.?
Please carefully read the
membership criteria at http://www.siop.org/joinsiop.aspx
to determine which membership status is right for you.
Can you expedite my membership approval so that I can take advantage of an
impending membership benefit?
SIOP has enjoyed significant
growth in the past few years and in 2008 alone welcomed over 1300 new
professional and student members. With SIOP’s small administrative staff (with
a Membership “Department” of one employee) and an all-volunteer Membership
Committee, we do our best to welcome new members in a timely fashion while also
ensuring applicants are a good fit for SIOP membership and meet all
requirements, as guided by the Society’s Bylaws.
We are not able to expedite the processing of your application.
However, we do permit those who have filed a new professional or upgrade
application to earn some membership benefits immediately while their
application is under review, including being able to submit conference
proposals and earn the member rate for conference registration. Once notified
of approval for professional membership, or as soon as a student application
has been filed, the individual must make a dues payment to finalize the
membership and continue receiving the associated benefits. Those who are denied
membership will have their access to benefits immediately removed.
What
is the dues payment schedule? Should I pay now? When will my membership expire?
Professional membership
applicants should not submit a dues payment until they have been formally
accepted for membership and asked to pay dues. Student Affiliate applicants
should submit a dues payment at the time of application. Individuals upgrading
their membership will continue to receive benefits while their application is
under review, even if the dues deadline for their current membership passes.
Please view the dues payment schedule at
http://www.siop.org/Dues/payment.aspx.
To renew an unpaid membership the member
should simply visit www.siop.org/dues to
make a payment, not submit a new membership application.

those organizations and notify siop@siop.org
