SIOP Fellowship - A new nomination process
As of August 1st, 2007, SIOP AO completed a new online tool that replaces the previous fellowship nomination process. The new Fellowship Online tool provides a member of SIOP the ability to nominate another member for fellowship. With the easy of nomination administration, document tracking and endorser assignment, nominating a potential fellow has never been easier. And being online means allowing nominators to take their work wherever they go, completing the nomination process at their convenience (before a set due date).
And currently in testing is the review process of the Fellowship applications. This will give the Fellowship Committee the ability to review applications, make comments about their review, and see a summary of reviews and comments for the entire committee. Making this possible for the committee eliminates the need to send multiple copies of nominations via postal mail as well as resending them to the same reviewers for 2nd and 3rd round reviews. (During the review process, fellowship committee members may review the same nomination up to 3 times before approving the nomination).
We feel this tool not only saves time, money, and updates the pervious paper-pushing method of the fellowship nomination process, but also produces a better quality of nominations from members (where the tool notifies nominators of missing information) and the quality of reviews by the committee (ability to view documents and crucial information for each nomination).
