Celebrating 25 Years of the SIOP Annual Conference
SIOP’s 25th Anniversary Conference will celebrate a quarter century of the Society’s annual culminating event—including special activities, events, and SIOP merchandise to commemorate this special anniversary.
Following the closing plenary with speaker David Ulrich (University of Michigan), SIOP will host its 25th Anniversary Closing Reception. The 25th Anniversary of the SIOP conference is in Atlanta in 2010. As the chair of the History Committee, it seemed only fitting that I provide some context and historical look at how this conference, which has become such an important part of our professional activities, was launched. I thought it best to go right to the source, Stan Silverman, who was the first Conference chair– perhaps I also went to Stan because we were due to have lunch, and his office is about a 10 minute walk from mine. Need Mentoring? Come to the Inaugural SIOP Practitioner Speed-Mentoring Event!
SIOP welcomes all interested practitioners to join an accomplished panel of mentors at the first speed-mentoring event, to be held at SIOP’s 25th Annual Conference. The speed mentoring will take place Friday, April 9, 2010, from 5 – 6 p.m. in room 406/407 of the Hilton Atlanta.
At the speed-mentoring event, practitioners will have the opportunity to participate in two separate 20-minute roundtable discussions with one or two seasoned professionals on predetermined topics of interest. This event is a terrific opportunity for practitioners to seek guidance, knowledge, and wisdom from mentors who have “been there and done that.”

The research incubator forum encourages individuals with mutual interests within a given research paradigm to combine efforts to expand cross-cultural research. Two research incubators will be held at the SIOP annual conference this year. The goal of both sessions is to connect individuals, both practitioners and researchers, interested in cross-cultural research involving HR strategies. Come get involved in the following two forums:

This new feature allows for a deep dive into critical topics that affect a broad range of SIOP members.

One of the best ways to get more involved in SIOP is through serving on a committee. When you volunteer for a SIOP committee, you are taking an active role in furthering the initiatives of your professional association and advancing the field of industrial-organizational psychology in general.
The annual SIOP committee-forming period will begin soon, and we now invite you to submit your volunteer application via the online SIOP Committee Volunteer System (CVS). Committee chairs will use the CVS to locate potential volunteers in the coming months, with a June deadline to submit committee rosters. Please act today and submit your volunteer application to ensure you are properly considered for membership on the committees that most interest you. A list of SIOP committees can be found here.
