Mobile Planner Launched for Conference
Do you want an easier way to get conference information on the go? Follow SIOP on your smartphone!
The new SIOP Mobile Planner is a mobile conference website featuring a searchable program, personal scheduler, hotel details, and other information about the Annual Conference designed to be viewed on your BlackBerry, iPhone or Android. Now you can search the program anywhere, add your favorite sessions to your personal schedule, and view them at the conference!
The SIOP Mobile Planner includes:
• Conference Program-You can search by session title, presenter last name, presenter affiliation, content area, or day and time.
• My Plan-Your personal scheduler allows you to login with your SIOP username and password and add sessions and events to your schedule. This mobile scheduler works in consort with the online personal scheduler found at SIOP.org and is tied to your login information, so you only need to save one schedule to use on both the website and your phone. You can then view and change your schedule at the conference or export it to your calendar.
• Hotel-Provides hotel contact information and directions, so you know exactly where you are going when you get to Chicago.
• Hours-A handy list of hours and locations for registration, placement center, and the exhibit hall.
• Activities-A listing of some of the conference’s special events and activities, including the plenary sessions, Frank Landy Fun Run, downtown Chicago tour, committee meetings, and receptions. This page also includes the time and location for these events.
• Exhibitors-An alphabetical list of conference exhibitors, including exhibit hall booth number and biographical information.

SIOP 2011: A Celebration of Science and Practice
In keeping with the theme for his presidency, during this year’s annual conference SIOP President Eduardo Salas would like to highlight contributions made by SIOP members to the celebration of science and practice. A PowerPoint slideshow of these contributions will be displayed during my keynote address as well as during other conference activities and in future conferences. In order to have a slideshow that highlights a broad range of science and practice celebrations across many areas of I-O, we need your help!
Specifically, we need SIOP members to contribute information on both past and current projects that you consider to be an example of successful science and practice integration. For example, this will include past winners of the M. Scott Myers Award for Applied Research in the Workplace, as well as other successful collaborations among academics and practitioners. These projects may have produced a new product that benefits both research and practice (e.g., training program, performance assessment instrument, survey tool) or may have advanced science and practice in other ways.
Please submit all information by March 25, 2011!

Prepare for SIOP with Attendee Service Center
With all of the interesting events and activities at this year’s SIOP Conference, it’s easy to be overwhelmed—but if you have already registered, you have an easy way to enhance your conference experience using SIOP’s online Attendee Service Center.
Registration is currently open for the 26th Annual SIOP Conference, which will take place April 14-16 in Chicago. Those who have not yet registered can sign up for preconference workshops, Friday seminars, and numerous extra-conference activities during the regular registration process. But for those who have already registered, the Attendee Service Center (ASC) offers you an easy way to add more fun and activities to your conference simply by logging in online. To make additions to your registration, click the “Registration Edit” link on the left-hand menu after logging into your account.
The service center also offers you several other tools for planning your conference. Through the ASC, you can take advantage of the following online features, designed to assist you in your preconference planning:
• Add new events to your registration
• Update your contact information
• Review the attendee checklist
• Invite your friends to the conference
• Reprint your confirmation/invoice
While you are exploring the Attendee Service Center, consider adding some of these exciting and informative events to your registration:

Are You Going to Be on TV or Radio?
If you are planning to be a guest on a television or radio program where you will discuss I-O psychology, help SIOP lead others to watch or listen to your program live!
Reporters have found SIOP and its membership to be a rich source of information for work-related stories. Many SIOP members have been featured on television and radio shows, including CBS News, the Today Show, and various NPR programs. If you are planning a radio or television appearance, inform SIOP beforehand so we can work on advanced promotion of your program through SIOP’s website and social media resources. This helps members tune in to the live event instead of just being informed about it afterward. If you let us know ahead of time, we can alert members of when and how to watch or listen to these programs.
In addition to encouraging others to tune into your radio and TV appearances, SIOP wants to keep up to date on the acknowledgements of its members for its own purposes. The office keeps track of media coverage of its members throughout the year to compile into the “Members in the News” section of The Industrial-Organizational Psychologist (TIP).
