Resources for I-O Graduate Programs

The SIOP Education and Training Online Programs Subcommittee is hosting a free virtual workshop:

Resources for I-O Graduate Programs

7-8:30 p.m. ET Thursday, October 20, 2022

This workshop is part of a series designed to help connect I-O graduate students, particularly those in online graduate programs, to the greater I-O community through connections to keynote speakers, alumni panelists, skill-building sessions, and other networking opportunities. Students and faculty (particularly those who mentor/advise I-O driven undergraduate and graduate students) are invited.

This session will focus on challenges graduate programs, particularly online programs, face in preparing students and supporting faculty. Guidance on how online programs have overcome these barriers as well as open discussion on what else can help support online graduate programs and students will be discussed.

Keynote Speaker: Dr. Adriane M.F. Sanders (she/her/hers)

Adriane is an associate professor and program director of the Master of Science in Industrial-Organizational Psychology (MSIO) at Austin Peay State University. She primarily teaches students in the fully online MSIO program, although she also enjoys teaching “on ground” and undergraduate students. Her research interests include work-life interaction (particularly in academia), graduate training and pedagogy in the psychological discipline, faculty development, and quality of (work) life. She promotes the use of empirical research to empower folx to make informed decisions about their work life, well-being, health, and safety.

Adriane is the current SIOP TIP editor (2022-2025), has been presenting at the SIPO Annual Conference regularly for more than 10 years, has served as a conference reviewer, is the former taskforce lead for the Online Graduate Training subcommittee of SIOP’s Education and Training committee, and is lead coordinator/facilitator of the I-O Program Directors Alliance (IOPDA, a biweekly meeting group for I-O master’s and doctoral program directors).

Activity: Round Robin Discussion of Challenges and Resources for Graduates

Attending this workshop will help attendees:

·       Make connections

·       Develop relevant skills

·       Prepare for their I-O-related careers

This workshop series is intended for graduate students pursuing a degree in I-O Psychology or a similar field. It will include a focus on virtual resources, which supports the applicability of this content to students in hybrid and online programs.
