About the Job

PURPOSE OF THE jOB

The Senior/Managing Research Scientist is critical to the Product Strategy and Innovation team and is responsible for working on multiple deliverables while coordinating with various internal departments and maintaining a high level of customer service and quality.  Assignments can include various projects focused on the development and validation of new, leading edge assessments and the revision and management of existing assessments.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Contribute to the ongoing development, validation, revision, and management of assessments and solutions and other intellectual property by analyzing research and client data.
  • Write and revise technical documents to support assessments and solutions.
  • Serve as an internal subject matter expert either guiding or providing support to team members and other departments on specific projects.
  • Conduct research in the areas of personnel selection and individual differences, psychometrics and research methods, and related areas.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Develop new assessments and solutions – 80%

  •         Documenting the development process (e.g., technical manuals, fact sheets)
  •         Researching subject matter via ONET, historical content, and past validation studies
  •         Developing, testing, and validating new items
  •         Deploying assessment to online platforms
  •         Integrating assessment offerings into larger product propositions
  •         Acting as a subject matter expert to sales and delivery teams


    Revise and manage test content – 15%

  •         Testing, improving, and further validating assessments and solutions
  •         Revising and writing technical documents
  •         Recording historical validity results in a database
  •         Adjusting assessments and solutions on select2perform


    Support other departments with relevant technical expertise – 5%

 

SHARED RESPONSIBILITIES AND ADDITIONAL DUTIES
 

  •     Assist team members with assignments and duties as needed.
  •     Attend group meetings to exchange ideas and provide status reports.
  •     Attend departmental and cross-departmental meetings.
  •     Answer questions and provide support to other departments.
  •     Stay current on I/O research.
  •     Perform other similar or related tasks as necessary.

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS

Required when entering position:

  • Ability to use computers & software (Word, Excel, Internet, PPT)
  • Knowledgeable in psychometrics and the design of and validation of assessment
  • Knowledgeable in SPSS and data analysis programs

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Requirements:

  • MS in I/O Psychology or related area
  • Experience in participating in assessment development
  • Experience in technical writing

Preferred:

  • Ph.D. in I-O Psychology
  • 5+ Experience in leading assessment development or Selection System Design
  • Experience in external and internal consulting
