SIOP Bloggers Discuss HR and I-O’s Role in Implementing Environmental Sustainability Practices

The I-O and HR role in embedding sustainability within an organization should be huge, but according to SIOP bloggers David and Cathy DuBois, that fact hasn’t necessarily occurred to many organizational leaders or to I-O and HR professionals.

In their newest blog post for the SIOP Exchange, SIOP’s sustainability bloggers discuss the upcoming SIOP Leading Edge Consortium (LEC), Environmental Sustainability at Work: Advancing Research, Enhancing Practice, and the role of I-O psychologist and HR employees in leading efforts to implement environmentally sustainable practices within organizations.

“I-O and HR voices have been largely absent in many organizations as they try to roll out the environmentally focused aspects of their strategic plans,” the authors say. “Yet in those organizations that are leaders in embedding environmental sustainability into their core, these professionals have been instrumental players in the change process.”

The authors go on to discuss how some of these key voices will be present at this year’s LEC and invite readers to join in the conversation at the event or afterward on the SIOP Exchange. Continue reading the rest of the five guiding principles by SIOP bloggers David and Cathy DuBois here and post your reactions and comments to the Exchange today.
