in in San Diego! Whether this is your first conference or your 27th, you won’t want to miss this special gathering of your fellow I-O psychologists. Also, make sure you take advantage of the early registration discount, which will be offered until February 28
The annual conference, the highlight of the year for SIOP, offers an expansive program that includes hundreds of presentations, posters, roundtables and symposiums; informative workshops and Friday Seminars; several elegant receptions and consortia; and a chance for SIOP members to see old friends and meet new ones while discussing the newest research and news in their field.

At registration we are requesting your preferred method of receiving the conference program. You will need a credit card and your SIOP username and password to register. If you don't remember your username and password, just go to the site and have them sent to you via e-mail. Be sure the Administrative Office has your current e-mail address or you won't get the e-mail (contact us at email@example.com). The SIOP registration site is a secure site.

Get There Early
There are several reasons to get to the conference early. SIOP has a number of interactive, informative preconference activities to join, including the preconference workshops
, which take place Wednesday, April 25. The Workshop Committee, headed by Liberty Munson,
has prepared 12 outstanding workshops for the 2012 conference. These professional development opportunities include a diverse selection of innovative topics designed to meet the many different needs of SIOP members and two half-day workshops will earn you 7 CE credits!* Register early make sure you are able to attend your first-choice workshops!
Early birds to the conference will also have a chance to participate in several consortia to be held April 25: the 6th

Receptions and Plenary Sessions
Elegant receptionsare available for many different interestsat the conference. Program Chair Deborah Rupp
and Membership Chair Kim Smith-Jentsch
invite all new SIOP members, first time conference attendees, and Ambassador–Newcomer pairs to attend this reception, with a short presentation entitled “How to Get the Most From the SIOP Conference.” This session is held at 5 p.m. April 25. It will start with a short introduction to the conference with many helpful tips and pointers, and will be followed with some great networking and mingling opportunities (accompanied by some appetizers and cocktails!). This is an excellent way to meet some other new people at the start of your SIOP conference adventure as well as to meet some seasoned SIOP leaders who will be there to welcome you. The conference will officially kick off with the all-conference opening plenary session on Thursday morning, April 26. After the awards (Chair Leaetta Hough) and new Fellows (Chair Wally Borman) are presented, SIOP’s incoming president, Doug Reynolds, will introduce SIOP President Adrienne Colella who will present her presidential address.
A Top-Notch Program
Of course the highlight of the SIOP conference is its program. Program Chair Deborah Rupp has worked to build an outstanding conference program this year. Highlights include:
•Two Master Collaboration Sessions.
To further the collaborations between science and practice, there will be two presentations during the Master Collaboration session:
• An Academic–Practitioner Collaboration to Assess Entrepreneurial Personality
• Innovating New Frontiers: An Internal–External Partnership to Innovate Best-in-Class Executive Coaching Management Through Technology
• Special invited speakers and panels
Networking and Job Search
Ample networking opportunities are also available at the conference. Coffee breaks and receptions (such as the general, International, CEMA, and LGBT and Allies receptions) offer time to connect with new friends and colleagues or reconnect with old ones. There will also be a wi-fi lounge, multiple sitting areas, and bay-view balconies for meeting up with friends and colleagues. SIOP will also continue its Conference Ambassador Program at this conference, which will informally match new SIOP conference attendees (“Newcomers”) with seasoned SIOP conference attendees (“Ambassadors”) to help connect the newcomer and provide a better overall conference experience for all.
The Placement Center
will also be available as a one-of-a kind resource to connect I-O psychologists seeking employment opportunities with hiring employers. Employers can meet with jobseekers in our center or use the center to arrange an off-site interview. The center is equipped with IT resources and is specifically reserved for placement center registrants. Adam Hilliard

Volunteering, Activities and Tourism
This year, the local arrangements team, headed by Mark Ehrhart
, has put together three preconference tours
, to take place Wednesday, April 25, that offer an educational and exciting look at various aspects of the San Diego area:
- Naval Leadership and Midway Tour
- Sustainability, Change, and Energy Innovation Tour
- Petco Park Tour
Join race director Paul Sackett and local coordinator Kevin Reindl early on Saturday, April 28 for the Frank Landy 5K Fun Run. The race course, just a short walk from the conference hotel, will take you through beautiful Seaport Village along San Diego’s embarcadero. Participants will meet in the lobby of the hotel at 6:15 and will walk to the starting line for a 7:00 a.m. start.
After the closing plenary on Saturday, SIOP is pleased to present closing keynote speaker Dr. Albert Bandura. Dr. Bandura is widely considered one of the most influential psychologists in the world. He is the David Starr Jordan Professor of Social Science in Psychology (Emeritus) at Stanford University, where he has been since joining the faculty in 1953. Dr. Bandura has received dozens of honorary degrees and awards throughout his career, including many lifetime achievement awards, and has changed the face of psychology through his seminal work on social learning theory, social cognitive theory, and self-efficacy. Needless to say, you will not want to miss the thrill of Dr. Bandura addressing our society.
Following Bandura’s address, President Colella will hand over the official SIOP gavel to our incoming president, Doug Reynolds, who will then give us an overview of his goals and vision for her presidency. The closing reception following the closing address will be a beach-themed celebration perfect for San Diego. All are welcome and encouraged to join us in sending this conference out on a high note. You don’t want to miss this!
