About the Job

The Principal Financial Group is excited to announce that we are currently seeking a talented and dynamic individual to join the leadership team in our HR - Talent and Organizational Development Department as a Lead Organizational Development Consultant - Leadership Solutions.  This critical global leadership role is responsible for developing the vision and strategy of the organization's Leadership Development practices and ensuring they are best in class through the effective utilization of development solutions, coaching and execution of specific talent management processes.


In alignment with the department vision, this position will co-create global leadership development strategy and work to build out plans and execute this strategy to ensure the organization has needed talent to achieve global business goals.  Through this work, this person will build strong relationships with key leaders in the business as well as with HR Business Partners.  Other responsibilities include:


  • Managing relationships with global talent management consulting firms to provide strategic solutions
  • Influencing key leaders and business partners alike through strong presentation of our leadership development strategy. 
  • Providing leadership and direction to the Leadership Solutions practice areas which includes Leadership Development and Coaching. 
  • Assist AVP of the department on the development of vision strategy and execution of executive-level development. 

Job Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required, plus 10 or more years related work experience. 
  • MBA or MS in Industrial Psychology or HR Development preferred.
  • Leadership experience is also preferred.  
  • Strong relationship-building talent with the ability to influence at the executive, business unit and organization levels is critical. 
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate and drive projects with a strong results driven orientation, proven experience managing and driving organizational change essential. 
  • Demonstrated Organization Development background preferred with an ability to assess organizational effectiveness issues and develop proactive strategic solutions. 
  • High-level facilitation skills with knowledge/skills in change management, organization design models/processes and workforce planning/succession planning and coaching required.  
  • Demonstrated talents in advanced planning/organization, problem-solving, workforce analytics and decision-making required. 
  • Maintenance of confidentiality an absolute. 
  • Knowledge of company and business unit products a plus. 
  • Minimal travel required (20% or less).  International travel may be included.
