POSITION IN ORGANIZATIONAL COMMUNICATION
The Department of Communication at Michigan State University seeks an individual to fill an open rank tenure-track faculty position in organizational communication beginning Fall 2014.
Qualified applicants will have a social scientific focus and emphasize communication theory. We seek candidates with expertise in research design and methods including familiarity with multi-method research within or across organizations. Examples of topical areas of interest include, but are not limited to, team and group performance; network analysis; information systems; organizational improvement interventions; work-family balance; and the study of social influence in organizational settings.
The successful candidate will mentor students and contribute to the department’s strong doctoral program, teach courses at all levels, and work with faculty in other units in the College of Communication Arts & Sciences, with faculty across MSU, and with external stakeholders, based on his or her interests. Applicants who pursue funded scholarly research opportunities in the study of organizations are especially encouraged to apply. We also encourage applications by organizational communication scholars with an interest in working collectively with us on environmental, health, community building, or social change projects that may involve new communication technologies, risk communication, and international and intercultural communication. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in communication, organizational behavior, management, psychology, or a related field.
The successful candidate will develop an innovative research agenda, teach two courses per semester, mentor students, and pursue a funded research program through active grant writing.
To apply, please refer to Posting #8389 and complete an electronic submission at the Michigan State University Employment Opportunities website, https://jobs.msu.edu. Candidates should submit a statement highlighting their experience and qualifications, a curriculum vitae, and the names of four references.
