Preconference Tour: Levi Strauss
Come learn about the unique history and culture of the world’s most iconic jeans maker, Levi Strauss & Co. (LS&CO.) during our preconference tour on Wednesday, April 9, 2008.
Founded in 1853 by Bavarian immigrant Levi Strauss, LS&CO. is one of the world’s largest brand-name apparel marketers with sales in more than 110 countries under the Levi’s®, Dockers®, and Signature by Levi Strauss brand names. There is no other company with a comparable global footprint in the jeans and casual pants markets.
Our tour will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the on-site archives at their San Francisco headquarters. We will meet with the company’s historian and learn about the 155-year legacy of LS&CO. rooted in denim. The archives hold historical collections of documents, clothing, photographs, films, posters, advertising materials and artifacts dating back to the mid 1800s.
Following the tour, SIOP’s own Dr. Yuca Hung, senior director of Worldwide Organization Development, will share LS&CO.’s approach to instill clarity and organizational commitment among its leaders and employees on “The LS&CO. Way” through creative OD and culture building learning techniques implemented company wide. “The LS&CO. Way” is the company’s holistic blueprint for leading and managing the company globally and a statement of their shared and enduring organization culture built upon four core values.
Our tour and presentation will finish no later than 12:00 p.m. so you will be free to grab lunch on your own down by the Fisherman’s Wharf or at the infamous Fog City Diner across the street from Levi Strauss & Co.
Note: This tour is limited to 30 participants. Cost is $10. The tour departs from the upper Taylor Street entrance of the hotel.
