School Library Makeover sponsored by Target.

A library makeover at a local elementary school sponsored by the Target Corporation.  SIOP members will be able to volunteer through the online conference registration process.  The project will take place on the Sunday after the conference (morning to early afternoon).  A registration fee of $20 will be donated to the Make It Right Project in New Orleans. This activity is open now for registration and is limited to 100 volunteers.

The Target Corporation is underwriting the school library makeover, providing $25,000 of funding for new furniture, paint, books, and other library equipment, Ehler explained. School administrators will determine what they need beforehand and during the volunteer activity; SIOP members will use the materials to bring the makeover to life.

After being transported via bus to the makeover site, volunteers will take part in a kickoff event with speakers from the school, Target, and Hands On New Orleans, who will orchestrate the makeover, to lay out the activities of the day and choose which they would like to participate in.

Volunteers will be provided breakfast and lunch during the project, and two buses will return them to the hotel that afternoon, one at 1 p.m. and one at 2 p.m., in time to catch an afternoon flight home.
