The SIOpen golf event returns to the scenic Stone Mountain Golf Club in Stone Mountain, GA. This year’s event will be held on the Lakemont Course. The Lakemont Course, designed by Georgia native John LaFoy, is one of two courses at the club. It features incredible views of Stone Mountain along with the famous Confederate Memorial carving of Robert E. Lee, Jefferson Davis, and Stonewall Jackson on horseback. The front nine holes of the Lakemont Course wind around Stone Mountain Lake, with six holes having water in play. The back nine offers beautiful holes as well, with rock outcroppings and four holes where water comes into play. More information on Stone Mountain Golf Club can be found at: http://www.marriott-vacations.com/leisure/golf-courses/stone-mountain-golf-club/course-overview.jsp.
As always, players of ALL skill levels are welcome in this event. Teams will be handicapped based upon the information you provide on the entry form. The format, as in previous years, is a 4-person scramble. Each team member hits a tee shot and the team selects the best of the four shots to play. Then each team member hits from the location of the selected shot.
Registration for this event involves two steps:
1. Indicate your interest in participating in the SIOPen on your general SIOP conference registration form and include your payment in your grand total. Then entry fee of $85 includes greens fees, cart, transportation, and prizes.
2. Complete the tournament entry form and mail to Dave Woehr, Department of Management, University of Tennessee, Knoxville, TN 37996-0545. Alternatively, you can e-mail this information to Dave at firstname.lastname@example.org. (The form is available at www.siop.org/golfform.pdf.)
Stone Mountain is located 16 miles from downtown Atlanta. For those who would like a ride to the event, a bus will pick you up at the hotel at 12:00 noon, take you to the course, and bring you back at the conclusion of the event.
