The Turkey Baster

A school band director and musician, Ray Sanders (a.k.a., The Turkey Baster) has been entertaining audiences for 12 years performing recognizable classics such as The William Tell Overture, Flight of the Bumble Bee, Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, and Stars & Stripes Forever on a turkey baster (yes, the kitchen utensil). Ray says playing on an unusual instrument is a way to share music where people can enjoy, laugh, and learn. His down-home style and “serious-humorous” explanations are as much fun as the music.

In addition to entertaining audiences at banquets, retreats, and corporate events, Ray has made appearances on The Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon, David Letterman, Jay Leno, Texas Country Reporter, America’s Got Talent, and the Survivor Auditions. He has performed with the Dallas Wind Symphony and was a finalist on NCL Star Search.

Additionally, Ray performs special music on the trombone as a prelude to a service or keynote speaker. Soothing dinner music played in a variety of genres provides a relaxing backdrop and prepares your audience for the message.
Ray and wife, Kay have been married 44 years, have 3 kids and 2 grandchildren.
