Mary Mannion Plunkett, PhD

Mary Mannion Plunkett is the Vice President of Global Talent Management and Development for Carlson responsible for talent and performance management, executive development, learning and organizational capability.

Prior to joining Carlson, Mary enjoyed working abroad in senior executive roles: Global Director People and Organisation Development for Heineken International, Senior Vice President Talent Management for Lehman Brothers Europe and Middle East and Vice President Executive Development for
London based British Petroleum.

She has more than 18 years experience in the field of leadership and organization development including roles with The Boeing Company, Ernst & Young LLP and McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Company. Mary also served as an adjunct professor in the Organizational Behavior department at Seattle Pacific University.

Mary graduated from St Louis University with a Ph.D. in industrial-organizational psychology. She has published numerous articles and coauthored Real Time Leadership Development (2009, Wiley-Blackwell).

Abstract: This presentation will describe the design and implementation of cost effective experience-based development practices to (1) support early identification and development of general management candidates, and (2) accelerate high potential on-the-job development.  Lessons learned will be highlighted to facilitate the adoption and extension of experience based frameworks.
