2019 SIOP Conference Receptions
Please note: these dates and times are tentative. This schedule is subject to change.
As always, the SIOP Annual Conference has been designed to afford multiple networking/socializing opportunities for attendees. Please take advantage of them! Opportunities to expand your network include coffee breaks, receptions, and plenty of space for meeting up with friends and colleagues. In addition, be sure to join us for these special receptions.
Wednesday, April 3
5:00pm – 6:00pm: Newcomer Reception (presented by PTCMW) in National Harbor 10:
Program Chair, Tracey Rizzuto, and Membership Chair, Tiffany Poeppelman, invite all new SIOP members, first-time conference attendees, and Ambassador–Newcomer program pairings to attend this reception, with a short presentation entitled “How to Get the Most from the SIOP Annual Conference.” It will start with a short introduction to the conference with many helpful tips and pointers and will be followed with some great networking and mingling opportunities (accompanied by some appetizers and cocktails!). This is an excellent way to meet new people at the start of your SIOP conference adventure as well as to meet seasoned SIOP leaders who will be there to welcome you.
Because of space limitations, this event is open only to the groups mentioned above (new SIOP members, first-time conference attendees, and Ambassador–Newcomer program pairings.)
5:30pm – 7:30pm: Workshop Reception in National Harbor 12-13
6:00pm – 8:00pm: Welcome Reception (presented by SHRM) in Potomac 1-6 Foyer: Be sure to kick off the eve of your 2019 conference right at the Welcome Reception. Reunite with your conference pals and make some new ones.
8:00pm – 10:00pm: SIOP Foundation Dessert Reception in Maryland C (with 2019 award recipients (Invitation Only) (Sponsorship Available)
Thursday, April 4
6:00pm – 8:00pm: Networking Reception & Top Posters in Potomac A-B (Sponsorship Available)
6:00pm – 7:30pm: Practitioner Reception-A Networking Event in National Harbor 4-5 (presented by Quintela)
6:00pm – 7:00pm: Committee on Ethnic and Minority Affairs (CEMA) Social Hour in Lower Atrium (Sponsorship Available)
6:00pm – 7:00pm: International Reception in National Harbor 12-13 (Sponsorship Available)
6:30pm – 8:00pm: Women’s Inclusion Network Reception in Potomac 3-4 (presented by University of Oklahoma)
Friday, April 5
6:00pm – 7:30pm: Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBT) & Allies Social Hour in Potomac 2 (Sponsorship Available)
6:30pm – 7:30pm: Military Veterans Initiative Task Force Reception in National Harbor 9
Saturday, April 6
5:30pm – 8:00pm: Closing Reception in Riverview Ballroom (please note that the location has changed!)
Be sure to attending the closing reception! It will begin at 5:30pm on Saturday, April 6, with cocktails and h’ors d’oeuvres in the beautiful Riverwalk Ballroom, overlooking the Potomas River. The doors open at 6:00 pm, featuring a theme of “Sail into National Harbor.” The band, Mashup, brings enormous energy to capture an audience and doesn’t let them go until the last note has faded.
