SIOP Members Help Private-Sector Employers Understand Skills Taught in the Military

Surveys of business leaders and hiring managers in companies across the country continue to demonstrate that the civilian workforce is having a difficult time finding job candidates with leadership skills, who can think on their feet, manage and supervise others, and work together in teams.  At the same time, hundreds of thousands of Americans are leaving the military each year with these same skills. The Department of Defense (DoD) and RAND Corporation are creating tools to help address this challenge.

SIOP Gives Back

The connection between I-O psychology and corporate social responsibility and prosocial activities is strong. Help us live out these ideals at the 2024 SIOP Annual Conference Closing Event where attendees will have the opportunity to build backpack kits and write notes to children and youth in Cook, DuPage, and Lake counties in Illinois and Indiana. This opportunity is made possible through a partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Chicago, an affiliate of the oldest, most respected mentoring organization in the U.S. Attendees can also visit the Big Brothers Big Sisters booth in the Exhibit Hall during the conference to learn more.
