Cynthia McCauley is a long-time contributor to the science and practice of leadership development. Cindy worked for 35 years at the Center for Creative Leadership where she was involved in research, product development, workshop facilitation, team coaching, publishing, and management. She remains affiliated with the organization as an Honorary Senior Fellow. Her leadership development work focuses on leader assessments, on-the-job development, developmental theories applied to leadership, and relational views of leadership.
Cindy is the co-editor of three editions of The CCL Handbook of Leadership Development and two books on experience-based leadership development. She has published in numerous outlets for scientific and practitioner communities. Her two most popular CCL publications are Developmental Assignments: Creating Learning Experiences without Changing Jobs and Direction, Alignment, Commitment: Achieving Better Results through Leadership.
Cindy has enjoyed being an active member of SIOP, including co-chairing SIOP’s first Leading Edge Consortium, serving as the second editor of Industrial and Organizational Psychology, leading workshops, and more recently, through various roles with the Awards Committee.
Cindy is a Fellow of SIOP, the American Psychological Association (APA), and the American Educational Research Association (AERA). She received her M.S. and Ph.D. in Applied Psychology from the University of Georgia.
