Nick Koenig, PhD is the Senior Director of Behavioral Science at Walmart. He focuses on the strategic integration of innovative, data-driven methods to enhance the people-led, tech-powered associate experience. Nick leads initiatives across the talent lifecycle, leveraging behavioral insights and advanced technology to create fair, valid, and accessible systems for recruitment and career development. He plays a central role in Walmart’s shift toward a skills-focused organization, aiming to broaden opportunities for all associates. Prior to Walmart, Nick led data science teams developing artificial intelligence solutions at Modern Hire. His research on AI in selection is published in top academic journals, and his work was recently recognized with the 2025 Personnel Psychology Paper of the Year award. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Central Florida and a B.A. from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
