Tianjun Sun, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Industrial-Organizational Psychology and Quantitative Methods at Rice University, where she directs the interdisciplinary Selection, Methodology, and Assessment Research via Technology (SMART) Lab. Her research focuses on personnel selection, psychometrics, and the use of artificial intelligence and advanced quantitative methods to improve psychological assessment and organizational decision making. Dr. Sun’s work bridges traditional assessment science and emerging AI technologies, with a particular emphasis on evaluating the reliability, validity, fairness, and interpretability of AI-based assessment tools. Her research has been published in leading journals such as Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, and Organizational Research Methods, and has received support from the National Science Foundation (NSF), National Institutes of Health (NIH), and the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP) Foundation. She has been recognized as a Rising Star by the Association for Psychological Science and has received multiple awards for her contributions to research on psychological measurement and assessment. In addition to her academic work, Dr. Sun has experience collaborating with consulting, testing, and technology organizations on applied assessment and people analytics initiatives.
