The Call for Proposals (CFP) for the 2023 SIOP Annual Conference has been released.
The SIOP Program Committee learned a lot last year from balancing in-person and virtual program content. As we continue to grow together and navigate the uncertain future, the committee plans to build from previous years in a way that allows SIOP to offer a meaningful, enriching, and exciting conference experience in 2023.
The committee will continue to offer opportunities to present and/or attend the conference virtually, as the virtual experience allows for greater inclusion and accessibility for our broader membership. The committee is also looking forward to the premier, classic, in-person experience that SIOP attendees have traditionally looked forward to every year. The in-person component will be held in Boston April 19-22.
With a focus on meaningful content and inclusion, the committee is happy to offer the choice between three presentation modalities in this year’s CFP.
1. In-person sessions and posters. These sessions will be delivered live in Boston, MA, from April 19-22. A small number of in-person sessions will also be broadcasted live to virtual attendees.
2. Virtual sessions. These sessions will be delivered concurrently with the in-person program during conference week (April 19-22). These sessions include any non-posters (e.g., symposiums, panels, master tutorials) delivered in an online format (e.g., via Zoom).
3. Virtual posters. Unlike last year, virtual posters will be delivered asynchronously. If you have a virtual poster accepted to the conference, you will upload a copy of the poster to the conference platform prior to the conference. You will also be encouraged to upload a brief video discussing your research. This is the only opportunity to present asynchronously (i.e., upload materials prior to the conference and then not be present during a particular time slot on April 19-22).
Any one person could theoretically be a presenter on both in-person and virtual submissions, depending on their unique situation. In-person attendees will be able to present in both in-person and virtual sessions, whereas virtual attendees will only be able to present in virtual sessions (either in a synchronous virtual session or through an asynchronous virtual poster).
The committee recommends studying the Call for Proposals in detail for a full list of eligibility rules and proposal requirements prior to submitting. The submission deadline for proposals is 5 p.m. ET October 12, 2022.
