The Psychology Credential Center (PCC) has developed the Psychological Specialty in Industrial-Organizational Psychology (PSI-O) certification.

Years in the making, the PSI-O establishes a standardized benchmark for professional proficiency in I-O psychology and provides a formal means of recognizing the specialized knowledge and skills of I-O psychology professionals.

PCC is now seeking the first 100 beta candidates to take the inaugural PSI-O examination. Beta candidates will receive an introductory examination rate representing approximately 45% savings and will have the opportunity to provide feedback about their testing experience. Applications for the inaugural examination are now open through November 6, 2026.

The certification reflects an extensive profession-driven development process. More than 500 I-O psychology professionals contributed their expertise to the development of the examination blueprint and related examination activities. Their participation helped ensure that the certification reflects contemporary I-O psychology practice.

Participation in the inaugural examination offers I-O psychology professionals an opportunity to be among the first to earn the PSI-O certification while contributing to the continued development of a new professional credential for the field.
