On Nov. 18, BOHSI, the Board on Human-Systems Integration, will offer a free webinar examining how organizations use operational data, productivity measures, and algorithmic tools to oversee and manage work, particularly in safety-critical and high-consequence environments.

Workforce Monitoring, Trust, and Algorithmic Management will explore different approaches to workforce monitoring and their implications for employees, the effects of continuous monitoring on trust and behavior, and the ways performance metrics or automated management systems may create unintended incentives. It may also address transparency in data collection, governance of workforce information, and broader human factors implications across sectors such as aviation, healthcare, logistics, hospitality, and other operational settings.

The free webinar, which will be moderated by former SIOP President Tara Behrend, Michigan State University, will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. ET Nov. 18. Register now.

Panelists include:

  • Daniel M. Ravid, University of New Mexico
  • Sarah Fox, University of Michigan
  • Chase Thiel, University of Wyoming
  • Hye Jin Rho, Michigan State University

BOHSI is a standing committee of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine that focuses on understanding how people, organizations, and technology interact in workplace systems. SIOP is a sponsor of this committee.
