Thank You for a Fantastic 41st Annual Conference!

SIOP hosted its 41st Annual Conference earlier this month at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, welcoming 4,400 registrants. Attendees took part in educational presentations and posters on a wide variety of topics, enjoyed social and networking opportunities, and met with partner companies in the exhibit hall throughout the conference.

This year’s conference featured several unique offerings in addition to our 400 sessions, including Research Community Forums, four consortia for students and early career I-Os, Preconference Workshops, and Friday Seminars.

At the SIOP Commons, attendees enjoyed social time and member activities, as well as the opportunity to meet book authors at the Meet the Author tables. Therapy dogs from Bayou Buddies, a local organization, provided a pleasant respite for attendees.

“Our 4,400 attendees were treated to a diverse assortment of nearly 1,100 presentations of posters, symposia, panel discussions, debates, and IGNITE sessions. These were supplemented by more in-depth dives in the Preconference Workshops, Friday Seminars, several Consortia, and Research Community Forums,” said SIOP Conference Chair Jack Kennedy. “As always, the conference provided opportunities to renew old friendships, initiate research collaborations, and build new connections.”

“This year, we were able to spend more time on curating the program and making changes to address feedback from attendees at previous year’s SIOP Annual Conferences,” said SIOP Program Chair Jeff Cucina. “We increased the acceptance rate for symposia, IGNITE!, and Master Tutorial sessions, and curated Content Area Theme Tracks, which highlighted the top-rated sessions in different content areas. We were trying to make the program both science based and practical, as well as manageable for attendees.”

Planning for the 2027 SIOP Annual Conference, which will be held April 15-17, 2027,
at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center, National Harbor, Maryland, is already under way, and the Conference Committee will hold its summer meeting in July. The Call for Proposals will be announced in August, and more details about the look ahead to 2027 will be shared later this year.
