Call for Proposals/
Flanagan Award
This subcommittee prepares and executes the annual Call for Proposals with the support of staff. They also determine the winner of the John C. Flanagan Award for Best Student Presentation to be presented during the SIOP Annual Conference. As part of their work, they help ensure a high standard of program curation by screening peer reviewers’ comments for inappropriate language, unprofessional or offensive content, or violations of submission guidelines.
Communities of Interest
This subcommittee supports the curation of a series of Community of Interest sessions at the SIOP Annual Conference. For each session, invited moderators lead an open discussion with conference attendees.
Competitions and Awards
This subcommittee supports the competition sessions during the SIOP Annual Conference. Current competitions include student consulting and machine learning events. The subcommittee also supports the planning of SIOP Awards winner sessions.
Special Sessions
This subcommittee is responsible for identifying and coordinating three types of invited sessions that fall outside the standard program submission/acceptance process: Special Sessions, Alliance for Organizational Psychology (AOP) sessions, and Executive Board (EB) sessions. All three session types are considered invited as they do not count toward the Rule-of-Three specified in the Call for Proposals.
The goal of Special Sessions is to provide content that is either of broad interest but unlikely to be submitted or accepted through the normal review process, such as sessions that test a new format or bring in external speakers. The Special Sessions subcommittee leads the production of these sessions.
For Alliance and EB sessions, this subcommittee coordinates with the AOP, the SIOP EB, and other SIOP Committees that requested EB session time.
