SIOP is always exploring ways to tell the I-O psychology story: what real-world problems can our members positively impact, what information do our members and stakeholders need to enhance human well-being and performance in organizational and work settings, and what insight do our members have that can lead or amplify the conversation.
Opportunities for members to serve as I-O psychology subject matter experts are listed below. If you have an idea for a timely topic, please email Amber Stark, Senior Brand and Content Strategist, at astark@siop.org.
Members with interest, experience in office friendships needed
Recent Gallup research shows that office friendships are declining and that negative impacts can be seen in employee retention and business success. We are looking for SIOP members who can talk about workplace friendships: what an appropriate workplace friendship is, why they are declining, why they are important, and what can be done to rebuild workplace connection. If you would like to be interviewed on this subject, please email Amber Stark, Senior Brand and Content Strategist, at astark@siop.org. The research referenced above can be shared prior to an interview.
Members with interest in, knowledge of foundational skills, soft skills needed
Recent research examined the importance of foundational skills to career progression. The conclusion of the research was that soft skills are more important than ever. We are looking for SIOP members who can explain the difference, if there is one, between foundational skills and soft skills, provide some examples, and discuss the importance of these skills in today’s workplace. If you would like to be interviewed on this subject, please email Amber Stark, Senior Brand and Content Strategist, at astark@siop.org. Members with interest, experience in effective leadership needed
How do you define an effective leader? Is it someone who manages a team well or do they also cultivate environments where people grow and thrive? Ineffective leaders can also cause good employees to leave an organization for better opportunities. This article will examine the good, the bad, and the ugly traits of leaders and offer insights about strong and effective leadership. If you would like to be interviewed on this subject, please email Christina Mimms, SIOP Marketing Manager, at cmimms@siop.org.
