Dear APA Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce that next year there will be a special Division 1 conference, on the topic of The Next Big Ideas in Psychology. SAVE THE DATE: February 21, 2026, in Tempe, Arizona (right next to Phoenix), on the campus of Arizona State University. There will be an evening cocktail hour and poster session on February 20.

Now we need your nominations for speakers! We are planning to have about 6 invited speakers who represent some of the most exciting Next Big Ideas in Psychology. Who are the people whose innovative ideas you currently find most inspiring and most potentially fruitful for psychology’s future? Keep in mind that we are focusing on the NEXT big ideas, not on big ideas that are already established and well-known. Related to our last such conference, we will be publishing a special issue of Review of General Psychology that will be coming out this year. We anticipate having another special issue in our journal based upon this next conference.

Please send your nominations for speakers to Jeffery S. Mio, President of Division 1 (Society for General Psychology and Integrative Studies) at jsmio@cpp.edu, no later than AUGUST 31, 2025. Provide a summary of no more than 200 words of the person’s Big Idea. Also include the person’s affiliation and contact information if possible. Self-nominations are welcome.

We hope you will plan on coming to the conference. There will be a poster session for you to present and discuss your own Big Idea if you wish. Information about submitting proposals and registering for the conference will be provided in the weeks to come.

Best Regards,

Division 1 Committee on The Next Big Ideas in Psychology Conference
