The SIOP Foundation is pleased to recognize the recipients of the 2026 James L. Outtz Grant for Inclusion, Belonging & Fairness in the Workplace: Arturia Melson-Silimon, Ashley Shew, Charles Calderwood, and Jessica A. Gass.
Their funded project, “Daily Workplace Experiences among Women of Color with ADHD: Impact of Workplace Stigma on Sleep and Well-being,” explores how workplace stigma affects the day-to-day experiences, sleep, and overall well-being of women of color who have ADHD. By examining these daily dynamics, the research aims to deepen understanding of how intersecting identities and workplace environments influence health and work outcomes.
The James L. Outtz Grant supports research that advances knowledge about inclusion, belonging, and fairness in the workplace, with a focus on generating insights that can inform both scholarship and practice in industrial-organizational psychology.
This project reflects the spirit of the grant by addressing an important and underexplored topic at the intersection of neurodiversity, identity, and workplace experiences. The findings have the potential to inform organizational policies and practices that foster more inclusive and supportive work environments.
The SIOP Foundation congratulates Melson-Silimon, Shew, Calderwood, and Gass on this achievement and looks forward to the valuable contributions their research will bring to the science and practice of I-O psychology.
