The latest SIOP book comes from the Organizational Frontiers Book Series and explores labour-management relations.
New Frontiers and Trajectories in Labour-Management Relations, which was edited by Jonathan Lavelle, Tony Dobbins, Dionne Pohler, and Tony Dundon, explores the political economy of work and labour-management relationships by considering the role of different labour market institutions in the governance of work and employment, as well as how these institutions shape and are shaped by power and conflict in work and labour-management relationships.
It is still a common assumption that labour-management relations are about trade unions, collective bargaining, and strikes. While these issues remain crucial, today’s conceptual terrain is much broader. New Frontiers and Trajectories in Labour-Management Relations goes beyond a focus on the outcomes of work and employment, to elaborate how different actors’ roles at multiple levels of analysis shape labour-management relationships and workplace behaviours. The book:
- Provides both a broad and deep understanding of labour-management relations in the real world of work
- Draws on a wide range of disciplines to provide insights into labour-management relations
- Covers a variety of themes, including key actors in labour-management relations, climate change, and the future of work
Since 1983, the Organizational Frontiers Series has helped researchers and practitioners stay abreast of research and developments in the constantly evolving workplace.
