The American Psychological Association (APA) launched its annual election for president-elect and new members of the Board of Directors on August 1 with a direct email to voting-eligible APA members. We want to continue to elect leaders who are committed to engaging applied psychologists in the work of APA.

We have made significant strides over the past several years in our partnership with APA, thanks in part to the election of leaders who value I-O and applied psychology. To continue this progress, SIOP/APA Division 14 has endorsed the following candidates for the APA Board of Directors:

Fred Oswald for Member-at-Large Slate I

  • Current member of the APA Future of Work Advisory Group
  • Past chair of three APA Boards/Committees: Board of Scientific Affairs, Committee on Psychological Tests and Assessment, and Open Science and Methodology
  • Past president of SIOP (APA Division 14)
  • Member of APA Advocacy Coordinating Committee
  • Current chair of the Board on Human-Systems Integration (BOHSI) at the National Academy of Sciences
  • Recent member of the National Artificial Intelligence Advisory Committee (NAIAC, 2022-25), which advised the White House during the Biden administration
  • Outgoing associate editor at Journal of Applied Psychology
  • Incoming editor in chief at Psychological Methods
  • Fellow of APA (Divisions 5, 8, 14), APS, and SIOP

Rodney Lowman for Member-at-Large Slate II

  • Current member of APA Council of Representatives (also served two past terms on Council)
  • Inaugural chair of APA Council Leadership Team and on the CEO’s Strategic Advisory Committee
  • Past chair of three APA Boards/Committees: Board of Professional Affairs, Board of Convention Affairs, and the Committee on Professional Practice and Standards
  • Past member of APA committees and task forces, including Committee on Psychological Tests & Assessment, Ethics Committee, Ethics Code Task Force
  • Fellow in seven APA Divisions (1, 10, 12, 13, 14, 17, and 52)
  • Long-time educator including at U. Michigan/ISR, Duke U. Medical School, U. of North Texas, and Alliant/CSPP
  • Extensive administrative experience as department chair, dean, provost, and president and acting president of two universities
  • Consultant to public, private, nonprofit, and international organizations
