We invite you to take part in our study at the University of Münster, Germany, that explores what your social media profiles reveal about your professional identity. With recruiters increasingly turning to LinkedIn and Facebook to evaluate candidates (‘cybervetting’), we aim to uncover just how accurately recruiters can assess your personality, work values, and career interests based on your online presence.

Can social media truly reflect who you are at work? That’s the big question we’re investigating, and you can be part of this exciting research!

What to expect:

  • To participate, you’ll provide links to your Facebook and LinkedIn profiles. The research team will take screenshots, which will be shared with recruiters who will assess your work-related identity (personality, interests, values). We’re following strict data protection standards, so everything’s safe and approved.
  • You’ll also invite a coworker and supervisor to give their perspectives on your personality, work values, and professional interests. Their input will help us compare how well recruiters’ assessments align with reality.

Why participate?

  • This study offers a unique opportunity to help understand how well social media reflects your professional identity. Your participation could change the way recruiters approach hiring in the future. If you want, you can leave your email-address at the end of the survey: We’ll be excited to share our results with you.
  • The study takes around 30 minutes of your time, and in return, you’ll receive $50 plus a chance to win one of ten $50 gift cards in our raffle (One4all eGift, a multi-brand gift card from giftcards.com). With 10 prizes for just 150 participants, your chances of winning are much better than in any lottery!
