Continuing Education

This subcommittee reviews proposals from all education events seeking continuing education credit, including but not limited to the SIOP Annual Conference, Leading Edge Consortium, and Work Smart Series. Members determine eligibility for APA, SHRM, and/or HRCI credit, as well as the appropriate type and amount of credit to be awarded. They also evaluate whether the credit categories selected by presenters are appropriate, given each awarding body’s distinct criteria and rules.

Practitioner Communications

This subcommittee develops practitioner-related communication content and works with a SIOP staff liaison to execute dissemination efforts. The subcommittee collaborates with other groups to translate their initiatives into member-facing narratives and elevate practitioner perspectives within SIOP and highlight impactful practice contributions. Deliverables include TIP and Source articles, resource spotlights, subcommittee updates, and practitioner highlights.

Practitioner Events & Programming

This subcommittee develops and executes practitioner-focused events. Responsibilities include organizing the annual practitioner reception, developing practitioner content for the conference, coordinating workshops, panels, or networking events, and collaborating with SIOP staff to schedule events.

Practitioner Mentoring

This subcommittee manages SIOP’s 10-month Practitioner Mentoring Program. Responsibilities include mentor/mentee recruitment, matching pairs, onboarding, developing supplemental supports (e.g., conversation guides), and monitoring participant engagement throughout the cycle. The team evaluates program effectiveness annually and identifies improvements to better meet practitioner mentoring needs.

Practitioner Needs

This subcommittee helps clarify the Practice Committee’s priorities. Activities include interpreting survey results, reviewing web analytics and resource usage metrics, and identifying gaps or emerging topics that may merit new or revised resources or programming. Insights produced by this group are used to guide resource updates, highlight unmet needs, and support the Practice Committee's annual strategic planning.

Practitioner Resources

This subcommittee supports the development of SIOP’s practitioner-related resources. Work includes cataloging existing resources, identifying outdated or duplicative content, prioritizing updates, and developing new tools, guides, templates, and other content that address current practice needs. Members collaborate closely with the Practitioner Needs Subcommittee to ensure updates are data-informed and responsive to practitioner feedback. The team also coordinates with Practitioner Communications Subcommittee to ensure resources are disseminated effectively and with staff to identify cross-committee opportunities for co-developed materials.
