We look forward to welcoming in-person and virtual attendees to a wide array of sessions at the 2024 SIOP Annual Conference. We anticipate strong in-person attendance in Chicago, and we are dedicated to providing virtual offerings that allow our members to attend, participate, and connect from wherever they are.

Tips and Tools for Making your Conference Presentations and Posters More Accessible

Submitted by the SIOP Disability Inclusion and Accessibility Committee

The 2024 SIOP Annual Conference will include hundreds of live, Zoom, and poster sessions featuring the high-quality, peer-reviewed content; diversity of perspectives and topic areas; and blend of science and practice attendees expect!

Developing conference materials in advance and ensuring they are inclusive and accessible fosters a truly welcoming and enriching environment for all conference participants. The SIOP Disability Inclusion and Accessibility Committee believes that presenters truly want to ensure their presentations and posters at the conference are inclusive and accessible, but not all presenters may be aware of best practices for accessibility.

The former Presenter Toolkit has been updated and rebranded as the presenter accessibility guidelines. Presenters are encouraged to log in and review these guidelines before developing their conference materials to find a wealth of information and links to other helpful tools.

Guidance is provided for virtual posters, virtual sessions, in-person posters, and in-person sessions to help presenters design materials that are inclusive and accessible for all audiences.

Best practices shared on the webpage include how to:

  • Use closed captioning in presentations
  • Create QR codes to provide supplementary materials
  • Describe slides during presentations using more accessible language
  • Make Q&A segments easier for all to follow

Please review these guidelines while creating your posters and presentations and help to make the SIOP Annual Conference welcoming and engaging for all attendees.

2024 SIOP Partners

SIOP Gives Back

The connection between I-O psychology and corporate social responsibility and prosocial activities is strong. Help us live out these ideals at the 2024 SIOP Annual Conference Closing Event where attendees will have the opportunity to build backpack kits and write notes to children and youth in Cook, DuPage, and Lake counties in Illinois and Indiana. This opportunity is made possible through a partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Chicago, an affiliate of the oldest, most respected mentoring organization in the U.S. Attendees can also visit the Big Brothers Big Sisters booth in the Exhibit Hall during the conference to learn more.
