How Can We as I-Os Better Serve Organizations?

SIOPers Reflect on Their Successful Town Hall Session at #SIOP19

What are the top priorities for CHROs? Where can we as I-Os have the greatest impact? What is not working, and what is not having the impact it should? Lynn Collins and Mark Morris answer just that in the new TIP article, “How Can We as I-Os Better Serve Organizations? Lessons Learned From Esteemed CHROs.”

Collins and Morris express the big challenge for I-Os to better understand and serve the C-suite because first-hand intelligence from these senior executives is uncommon. The SIOPers decided to put together a Town Hall session at #SIOP19 with the ambitious goal to aid and deepen their understanding of how I-Os can better serve organizations. They hand selected five highly esteemed CHROs who have a PhD in I-O and could speak to the Annual Conference audience.

Peter Fasolo (Johnson & Johnson), David Rodriguez (Marriott), Carol Surface (Medtronic), Belinda Hyde (SPX), and Rich Cober (MicroStrategy) were the five speakers that helped lead a successful session with a crowd of roughly 600 attendees.

The Town Hall session began with the audience participating in a real-time interactive digital poll that asked how well I-Os (as a field) are doing in different key areas. You can view a table of their answers in TIP. Highlights from the CHROs panelists can also be viewed in the article.
