September Is Smarter Workplace Awareness Month

September is Smarter Workplace Awareness Month, which is dedicated to sharing information about how the science and practice of I-O psychology can improve worker well-being while creating more effective organizations. Each week this month, SIOP will share member-created content about the topics that are important in the world of work, as uncovered in the 2020 SIOP Top 10 Workplace Trends.

This week’s highlights are:

  • Top Trend No. 9 (tie): Meaningful and purposeful work
    With the stress of COVID weighing on workers, being able to find meaning in your work remains critical for employee engagement. SIOP experts weight in on strategies to build an inclusive culture that supports all employees and helps workers find purpose in their work.
     
  • Top Trend No. 9 (tie): Virtual working spaces
    As COVID affects workplaces worldwide, virtual working spaces are more relevant than ever! SIOP experts can suggest ways to stay connected to colleagues, create a sense of community, and optimize your employees' remote work experience.
     
  • Top Trend No. 10: Data visualization and communications
    Being able to effectively visualize and communicate relationships in data is more important than ever as workplaces and communities seek to understand the effects of COVID-19 on their workplaces and workforces. SIOP experts are well versed in techniques to help organizations make data accessible, clear, and tell a compelling story.
