NSF SBE Postdoctoral Research Fellowships (SPRF)

The National Science Foundation’s Directorate for Social, Behavioral and Economic Sciences (SBE) offers Postdoctoral Research Fellowships to support a Fellow’s early career research and training goals. SPRF awards are fixed two-year awards offering a yearly stipend of $54,000/year and $15,000/year Research & Training Allowance for a total award of $138,000.

Proposals for SPRF must address an important research question germane to Social, Behavioral and Economic sciences. Two tracks are offered: (1) Fundamental research in SBE and (2) Broadening Participation in SBE sciences. Members of underrepresented groups are especially encouraged to apply.

The deadline for applications this year is November 1, 2021. Criteria for applicants include: (1) US citizen or permanent resident, (2) PhD in SBE, (3) Degree obtained within 3 years before, or 10 months after application deadline, and (4) not currently in a tenure-track position. Applicants must identify a sponsoring scientist and host institution that may or may not be the same as the applicant’s institution.
